Frederick A. Shinners, Jr., O.D.

I was born in Ottawa, Illinois, at the junction of the Fox and Illinois Rivers. Or as they say in Indiana, Illanoisz. We stayed there for almost 4 years before moving to Vienna, West Virginia. Growing up there really formed the foundation of many of my beliefs. After I graduated from high school, I attended the University of Dayton ,in Dayton Ohio. It was a great experience. Thomas Wolfe said that you can't go home again, but I'm sure he didn't go to UD! Go Flyers!! Graduating in 1994 from Southern College of Optometry, in Memphis, Tennessee, I spent the next five years working for a very busy practice. In September of 1999, I felt it was time to fulfill a dream of mine and open my own practice. I couldn't think of any other place I would want to be. In 2002, I married my wife Sarah, who helps me to run the office, and became the father of 4 wonderful kids. So here I am, full time Optometrist, full time father.
